Harriette French Tiegreen
Harriet French Tiegreen, 67, of Chicago, died from a heart attack Friday. She was born in Hawarden September 20, 1922, daughter of Sherman and Nellie French. She graduated from Hawarden High School, attended Morningside College and the American Conservatory of Music. She won a national piano contest in high school and became a professional musician. At one time, she was accompanist for the large Grant Park chorus, music editor of Children's Activities, accompanist with Chicago Artists for Chamber Music and many other groups.

She was organist for several large churches in the Beverly Hills area. She also taught piano at the University of Illinois Circle Campus. Her garden was recognized by the late Mayor Washington and cited as "outstanding" at the annual awards luncheon. Harriette married James Dutton in 1943 and they had five children. She later married Elton Tiegreen, who preceded her in death, as well as her parents, sister, Pauline (Polly) Slife, and a son, Jon.

Harriette is survived by her children, Rebecca Parser, of Trenton, NJ, James, Dutton, of Carbondalc, IL, Linda Malias and Mark Dutton, of Chicago, three grandchildren and a step daughter, Mary Kay Tiegreen, of New York City, and a sister, Margaret (Peg) Clark, of Freeport, IL. A memorial service was held on December 16, in Chicago. The body was cremated and her ashes were buried in the French plot at the Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden
