Hold Last Rites In Rock Rapids For Ben Steck

Funeral services for Mr. Ben Steck, 63, brother of Delco Steck and Mrs. Tom Gerritsen, were held in Rock Rapids Tuesday, with Rev. Ross B. Harfman officiating. Mr. Steck died at the Veterans hospital in Sioux Falls last Friday night. Benjamin Steck was born at Winschooten, Groeningen, The Netherlands, in the spring of 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Steck. He came with his parents to Rock Valley in 1891. He was schooled here and in 1900 went into the restaurant business with Case Brow. Following, a period of eight years, in which he was engaged in several lines of work in and near Rock Valley, he went into the army. Upon discharge in 1919, he went to work for motor express line in Sioux City and continued with this company until a sprained back caused his retirement about five years ago. He entered the Veterans hospital in Sioux Falls last August. Survivors include a sister, Jennie (Mrs. Tom Gerritsen) and a brother Delco of Rock Valley; a sister Anna (Mrs. Case Brouwer) of Rock Rapids; Dan of Sibley and Jerry of Marcus. Pallbearers will be the six nephews of the deceased. The same six who served in like capacity at the funeral of the father of Mr.
Steck in 1940.
