Hawarden Independent of June 1, 1989

Joyce Ann DeKock, 29, of AJcester, died Wednesday, May 24, of injuries suffered in an automobiles tractor accident near Beresford. Services were Saturday, May 27 at the Community Reformed Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Douglas Mc Clintic officiating. Burial was in the Newkirk Cemetery, Newkirk. Pallbearers were Dennis Ten Napel, Arlen DeZeeuw, Harlan Van Egdom, Gary Lockhorst, Allen Van Noort, and Leonard Roskam.

Mrs. DeKock, the former Joyce Ymker, was born September 17,1959, at Hudson, and moved with her family to Alcester as a child. She graduated from Alcester High School in 1977. On August 22, 1980, she married Mark DeKock, in Hawarden. The couple made their home in Alcester where she worked for the Alcester Clover Farm Store for 10 years and since January 1989 had been employed at First Federal Savings and Loan at Beresford. Mrs. DeKock was an active member of the Community Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kimberly, at home; her parents, Elmer and Joanne Ymker, of Hawarden; three brothers, Larry, of Harrisburg, SD, Jerry, of Hawarden, and Randy, of Rapid City; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Elma) Carlson, of Beresford, and Mrs. Scott (Ruth) Nilson, of Hawarden; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna DeBoer, of Sioux Center.
