Martha A. Schmidt, 93, of Le Mars died Monday, January 30, 1989 at her home in Le Mars. Services were held at St. John's American Lutheran Church in Le Mars with Rev. David Kramer officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Schmidt, the former Martha Onken was born April 18, 1895, in Ireton, daughter of Hio and Margaret (Ricklefs) Onken. She married Fred J. Schmidt October 18, 1916, in Ireton. He died in 1968. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux and Plymouth Counties. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church and Women of the ELCA.

Survivors include two sons, Donald of Le Mars and Wallace F. of Sacramento, CA; a daughter, Mrs. Les (Ramona) Pecks, of Le Mars; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Laura) Lehrman, of Hawarden; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents; a daughter, Madonna Clement; her husband; five sisters, and four brothers
