Wayne Brown
Retired longtime Nebraska City businessman, Wayne Brown died in Scottsdale AZ, Tuesday, February 14, at the age of 69. Brown owned and operated the Gambles Appliance and Hardware Store in Nebraska City, NE, until his retirement and had been active in the community for many years.

Wayne was born March 24, 1919 near Ireton. The son of Harley G. and Alma (Crouse) Brown. He attended rural school and Ireton High School. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II, obtaining the rank of captain. He married Gertrude Seeberg on February 24, 1945 in Lincoln NE. He operated seed and feed stores in New Hampton and Norfolk, NE before going to Nebraska City.

Services were held Saturday, February 18 at the Peterson Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City, with Rev. Samuel Hofer officiating with military rites by American Legion Post #8 in the Wyuka Cemetery

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; daughter, Mrs. Ron (Beth) Jay of Nebraska City; Mrs. Jim (Miriam) Frerich of Kearney, NE; Mrs. Marvin (Jane) Zimmerman of Peru; and Mrs, Harley Brown of Hawarden; one brother, Jerrold of Caro, MI; four sisters, Mildred Bushby of Ireton; Lola Huber of Richfield, MN; Lois Brown of Sebring, FL; and Wilma Goen of Cudahy, WI .
