Hawarden Independent March 9, 1989 *

Marie Mohlman, 94, of Hawarden, died Friday, March 3, 1989 at the Hawarden Hospital.
Services were held Tuesday, March 7, at 1:30 p.m., in the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Hawarden with Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Darold Jamtgaard, Cody Paul, Ronald Sorlye, Loy Hamersma, Ferrel Boyles and Dennis Jamtgaard.

Marie Mohlman was born March 21, 1894 to Heinrich and Marie Roshau Meins in Burg of Fehmarn, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Nikolai Church in Germany. She came to the United States March 12, 1911 settling in the Akron area. She was united in marriage to John Mohlman September 27, 1912, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Preston Township, rural Akron. They farmed in the Akron area for 17 years before moving to Hawarden in 1929.

She was preceded in death by her husband in September of 1962 and one daughter, Leora Camber in February of 1986. She is survived by four daughters, Edna Boyles, Helen Jamtgaard, Irene Paul and Gladys Sorlye, all of Hawarden; one sister, Katherine Pabst, of Sanborn, MN; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
