Gertrude Juffer, 90, of Ireton died Tuesday, May 10,1988, in a hospital in Orange City after a long illness. Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, 1988 in the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton with the Rev. Wybren Oord officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Larry Juffer, Lynn Juffer, Kent Juffer, Gary Juffer, Paul Juffer, William Young, Dennis Juffer, Ronald Juffer, Mat Juffer, Nick Bode and Jeff Juffer.

Mrs. Juffer, the former Gertrude Brouwer, was born February 9, 1898, near Hull. She graduated from Hull High School and Calvin College, in Grand Rapids, MI. She taught in Christian schools in Sioux Center and Rock Valley for three years. On August 5, 1920, she married Gerrit Juffer at her parents' home near Hull. Mrs. Juffer was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Ireton, Ruth Circle of the church and American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband; seven sons, Theodore of Omaha, Gerald of Ireton, Dr. Herman of Decorah, Donald of Wagner, SD, Dr. Arlin of Sibley, Leo of San Diego, CA, and Dr. Marvin Juffer of Hutchinson, MN; three daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Ruth Ann) Young of Onawa, Mrs. Gerald (Verla) Jungling of San Diego and Elna Jane Juffer of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; a sister, Mrs. John (Anna) Kragt of Rock Valley; 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Preston.
