Hilda Walrod, 89, of Hawarden died Monday, Feb. 22, 1988, in Morningside Manor Nursing Home in
Alcester, SD. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden with the Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiating. Burial was in the Correctionville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger Shuff, George Hirschman, Bud Swartabaugh and Rod Matz.

Mrs. Walrod, the former Hilda Cohrt, was born Feb. 26, 1898, in Holstein. She married Earl Walrod
July 15, 1922, in Beresford, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux City before moving to Hawarden in 1948. He died July 22, 1983. She had been a resident of Morningside Manor, in Alcester since October 1982. Mrs. Walrod was a member of the Associated Church of Hawarden. Survivors include a sister, Edna Steil of Sioux City.
