Former Resident Last Rites Held At Rock Rapids

Last rites for Mrs. Lome F. Smylie of Rock Rapids were held in the Rock Rapids Methodist church at 10 a.m. on May 27, with Rev. Paul Huscher officiating. Mrs. Smylie died in the Rock Rapids hospital after an illness of several weeks. She was born on May 23, 1885, at McGregor, Iowa, where she lived until 1890, when she moved with her parents to Hull. On January 16, 1909, she was married to Lome F. Smylie. Mr. Smylie was superintendent of schools in various places, including Rock Valley. In 1945 they moved to Rock Rapids from Spirit Lake. Since that time Mr. Smylie has been Lyon county superintendent of schools.

Mrs. Smylie is survived by her husband and six children, Robert, Dorothy and Mrs. Frances Frisbee of Boise, Idaho, William of San Antonio, Texas, Marjorie Claire and Mrs. Patricia Binning of Cedar Falls.
