Virgil G. Renken, 42, of Le Mars, died Friday, September 18,1987, of injuries sustained in a traffic accident. Services were at Ii30 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township, Plymouth County. Rev. Jack Hebard officiated. Burial was in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Wilkens-Heren-McHale Post 724 American Legion under direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mr. Renken was born December 31, 1944, at Hawarden and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1963. He married Joyce Smith on September 8, 1968, at Le Mars. He was a farmer and truck driver and served in the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was a member of Wilkens-Heren-McHale Post 724 American Legion, president of Farmers Co-op Elevator at Craig and a member of the Pioneer Machinery Club. He started Little League in Craig and was manager of the men's fast-pitch softball team in Craig.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Troy at home; a daughter, Stephanie at home; his mother, Etta Renken of Le Mars, and a sister, Mrs. Jerry (Ardis) Johnson of Le Mars.
