Mrs. Wayne Horton, 60, of Akron, died Sunday, September 20, 1987, in a Sioux City hospital of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Akron. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. Rev. Timothy Schott officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Horton, the former Virginia Lucille Bemiss, was born April 3, 1927, in Hawarden. She was raised in Hawarden and graduated from Hawarden High School. She married Wayne Horton June 22, 1946, in Hawarden. The couple farmed all their married life in the Akron area. Mrs. Horton was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Steve of Sioux City; six daughters, Mrs. Paul (Sally) Kelly of Qyens, Mrs. Rod (Sue) Waterman of Hawarden, Mrs. Ed (Sharon Uhl and Mrs. Bob (Shelly) Buys, both of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Robert (Sandy) Freimark of Sioux City and Mrs. Troy (Sona) Seaton of Warrensburg, MO; a sister, Mrs. Ken (Marge) Havens of Boone; a brother, James "Bud" Bemiss df Sacramento, CA, and 12 grandchildren.
