Rock Valley, Iowa: Loretta Mae Wynia, 55, of Rock Valley died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley. Visitation with the family present will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2015 at Trinity Christian Reformed Church. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Trinity Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Stanley Groothof officiating. Burial will be held prior to the memorial service at Valley View Cemetery. A family and public prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday at the church. Loretta Mae Wynia was born January 15, 1960 in Rock Valley, Iowa to Henry and Lucille (Bolkema) Veltkamp. She graduated from Rock Valley Christian School, Western Christian High School and Dordt College in 1982 with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. On July 9, 1982, Loretta married Merle Wynia in Rock Valley. For the first 10 years of marriage, they lived in Merle’s childhood home near Maurice. In 1992 they moved to Loretta’s childhood home in Rock Valley. Loretta taught at Rock Valley Christian School for 33 years. She had a deep passion for quilting and sewing, traveling with her family, and camping.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Merle; son, Lucas Wynia of Rock Valley; mother, Lucille Veltkamp of Rock Valley; 3 siblings, Winerva (Bob) Kramer, Gerald (Val) Veltkamp all of Lynden, Washington, and Eugene (Jana) Veltkamp of Paullina, Iowa; Merle’s siblings, Stan (Karen) Wynia of Maurice, Iowa, Arlin Wynia of Church Hill, Montana, and Lou (Julie) Wynia of Steen, Minnesota; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Veltkamp; Merle’s parents; and niece, Kyla Wynia.
