Hold Last Rites For August Klein

Funeral services for August A.Klein, 69, were held on Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m. at the home, and at the Congregational Church in Doon at 2 p.m., with Rev. A. E. Sommer of the Alvord Lutheran church, officiating." Interment was made "at the St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, located north of Hull. Mr. KLein died'suddenly at his
home in Doon early last Saturday morning, March 18.

He was one of a family of 12, the son of Christopher and Amelia Klein. He came with
his parents in l887 to Rock Valley and helped his parents farm south of Doon.
Mr. Klein farmed several years with his parents until his marriage to the former Lizzie Meyer
in 1902. To this union were born two children, Albert and Richard.
The latter preceded him in death, passing away in 1927. The Kleins farmed in this area for several years and finally settled on the "home place." Mr. Klein retired from farming in 1927, first living in Rock Rapids, and later moving to Doon. Mr. Klein kept up his interest in the home place, rented in recent years to Sam T.Kooima.
Survivors include the widow, son Albert, four grandchildren, one brother, Oscar of CA.
and a sister, Mrs. Mary Moore of Rock Valley. He was a long time time member of the Zion Lutheran church of Hull and was a member of the First Lutheran church at Doon since 1928.

Pallbearers were as follows: Ivan, Loren and Clarence Klein, Walter Moore, Emil Vogel and
Elmer Hankins, Several relatives from a distance attended the last rites.
