Death: August 6, 1965Funeral services for Mrs. Frank B. Schoeneman, 94, widow of former prominent Hawarden business man, who died Friday at the Hawarden hospital, were held at 2 o'clock Monday at the Associated Church. Dr. Golden Thompson of Le Mars officiated in the absence of a resident pastor. Burial was at Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard-Dow Funeral home.
Mrs. Ralph Gregg, Jr., was the soloist with Mrs. Hal Shoemaker as organist. Casket bearers were Glenn Olsen, Rex Truesdell, Elwood Bolster, Henry Visser, C.B. Thompson and L.R. Carsten.
She had the care of a companion Anna Mogensen, the last eight years and recently was hospitalized here. She spent her winters with a daughter in California.
Bertha K. Barton was born on August 1, 1871, at Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from high school at Le Mars and was a country school teacher in Plymouth county and later became a primary teacher in Sioux Center.
She married Frank B. Schoenenman in Springfield, Ohio, on September 17, 1901, and they resided in Sioux Center until 1904 when they moved to Hawarden which had since been her home.
They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Hawarden September 15, 1951.
Mr. Schoeneman, who was the president and one of the founders of the Schoeneman Bros. Company, of which there are now ten lumber firms in Iowa and South Dakota, died March 7, 1959.
Mrs. Schoeneman was a member of the Associated Church, the Eastern Star, P.E.O., Rebekah lodge, Mothers club of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dewey N. (Flora) Steffen of Glendale, California; four sons, Barton Schoeneman and Frank Schoeneman, Jr., both of Dallas, Texas, Forrest Schoeneman of Sioux City and Chester C. Schoeneman of Hawarden; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
