Brad Ward, age 53, of Boone, died at his home on Feb. 1, 2008. Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.
Brad was born on Oct. 14, 1954, in Watertown, S. D., the son of Leon and Elaine (Olson) Ward. He graduated from West Sioux Community School in Hawarden in 1973. On April 19, 1975, he married Lynette Blankenship in Ames. The couple later divorced. He was employed as a signalman for the Chicago Northwestern Railway and then the Union Pacific Railroad for 28 years.
He is survived by a son, Tyler Ward and his wife Jayme and a granddaughter, Samiya Ward, serving as a missionary in Central Asia; four sisters, Cheryl Lewno of Castlewood, S. D., Susan Kittelson and husband Bruce of Clear Lake, S. D., Lana Cameron and husband Mike of Herreid, S. D., and Wendy Carr and husband Bob of Lancaster, Mo.; his former wife, Lynette Farnham of Ames; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Brad is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Grant.
