Funeral services for Harry D. Dawson, 68, prominent retired farmer and cattle feeder who died Wednesday of last week at the University Hospital at Columbus, Ohio, were held at 3 o'clock Saturday in the Associated church.

Dr. G. S. Bruland officiated with burial, under the direction of the Bernard-Dow Funeral Home. Military rites were conducted by Hescher American Legion Post No. 185 (?) of Akron and Two Oakes Post No. 254 of Hawarden.

Mr. Dawson was suffering from a lingering illness and was seeking medical help in Ohio where he contracted pneumonia after being flown in Saturday night. He died the following Wednesday.

Mr. Dawson was born May 3, 1897, on a farm five miles northwest of Hawarden in Union county, South Dakota; a son of James & Anna Dawson. He attended Hawarden public schools. He served with the armed forces during World War I.

On June 27, 1923, he married Edna Herter of Hawarden and they farmed near here until retiring to Hawarden in February of 1963.

Mr. Dawson was a member of the Associated church, Masonic Dale Lodge No. 456, AF & AM, the American Legion, Last Man's Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by the widow; a brother, Fred Dawson of Hawarden; a sister, Mrs. Ann Keith of Anaheim, CA and several nephews and nieces.

CASKET BEARERS - Will Gregg, Warren Gregg, Earl Slife, Sr., Glenn Hansen, Clayton Thompson and C.C. Schoenerman. Honorary pall bears were: Lee Keehn; Jerry Wood; Harry Hodoway, Clarence Ver Hoeven; Bruce Miller and Dr. M. O. Larson. Mrs. Ralph Gregg, Jr. was the soloist with Mrs. Hal Shoemaker as organist.
