Died: March 17, 1993 Sioux City, Iowa

Arla B. Peterson, 39 of Alton, died Wed. March 17 at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Services were at 11 a.m. Sat. March 20 at American Reformed Church in Orange City with Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt and Rev. Ralph Pontier officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City.

She was born Jan. 4, 1954 at Sioux Center, daughter of Albert J. and Harriet Ann (Gesink) Vis. She lived at Hull until her family moved to Hills, MN when she was eight. She graduated from Western Christian High School ini Hull and attended Worthington (Minnesota) Community College. She worked as a residential aide at Hope Haven Residential Training Center at Orange City for seven years as well as in other occupations. She lived in the Orange City area most of her adult life. She married Marvin Peterson June 5, 1976 at Orange City. She married Kim Dorschner May 20, 1985 at Orange City.
She was a member of American Reformed Church or Orange City.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph "Frank" of Orange City and James of Alton; s daughter, Pauline Rebecca "Polly" of Alton; her mother Harriet Vis of Orange City; four sisters, Mary Olson of Hills, Ruth Kramer of Orange City, Jane Van Der Meulen of Matsqui, British Columbia, Canada; Lora Lee Bos of Forest, Ontatio, Canada; two granddaughters; 12 nephews and nieces; and special friend Kim Dorschner of Alton.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father and an infant brother, Jerry Allen.
