Dora was the daughter of Herman Dirksen and Reintje (Hamstra) Dirksen. She came to the United States at the age of 3, and her family settled in Sioux County, Iowa.

On December 18, 1929, she married Nicholas Roghair at Remsen. They farmed in Sioux County until 1946, when they moved into Alton. Mr. Roghair passed away April 3, 1974, at Orange City.

In December of 1986, she became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

She was a member of the Reformed Church of Alton and Reformed Church Women.

Survivors include her five daughters, Catherine Karssen of Alton; Hermina Wichers of Orange City; Harriet Boone and Dorothy De Vos, both of Hull; and Alvina Fenske of MN; two sons, Edward of Ocheyedan: and Nick of Alton. Eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ellie Warntjes and Minnie De Vos, both of Hull; Clara Bonestroo of Sheldon; and Rena Niemeyer of Inwood; and two brothers, Dick and Herman Dirksen both of Rock Valley.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, four grandsons; and brother, Evert.
