Leona Petersen, 85, Orange City, died Sun. Nov. 10, at Orange City hospital.

Services and burial were Wed. Nov. 13, at East Lawn Cemetery iin Sheldon, with Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Leona Anna, daughter of Benedict and Emma (Segebart) Fritz, was born March 11, 1917, in East Boyer township of Crawford County. She was raised in the Denison area.

She married James Christianson Petersen on Sept. 17, 1941. They made their home in Sanborn and Sheldon. Mr. Petersen died Nov. 22, 1958, in Sheldon. She moved to Orange City in 1985.

She was employed by Aalfs Manufacturing in Sheldon for more than 20 years.

She enjoyed reading and flower gardening.
Survivors include two sons, James C. and Deb Petersen of Greensboro, N.C. and Gene and Diane Petersen of Orange City; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three sisters, Luella Boehm of Wall Lake, Lorraine Mims of AZ. and Lois Blum of CA; and two brothers, Donald Fritz of Deloit and Edward Fritz of Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Christianson Petersen; a sister; Dorothy Brown; and a brother; Leonard Fritz.
