DEATH OP FORMER RESIDENT
Mrs. Edward Wilkinson Passed Away at Odebolt May 16th
Mrs. Edward Wilkinson, a former resident of this community, but who for many years resided at Odebolt and for the last 23 years worked on the Odebolt Chronicle, passed away at her home Sunday, May 16th, following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Odebolt on Tuesday of last week and burial was made there.

Lillie D. Peck was born near Monmouth, Jackson county, lowa, Dec. 12, 1863. In the fall of 1874 her family came to Sac county and located on a homestead. For years her family lived in a log cabin. On May 23, 18S3, she was united in marriage with Edward Wilkinson and the first few years of their married life they lived on a farm north of Hawarden. Many of the older settlers of this community formed the acquaintance of Mrs. Wilkinson when she lived here and she has visited here occasionally since moving to Odebolt. They moved to Odebolt in 1897 and since then she lived there continuously.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary four years ago. Although no children were born to them Mrs. Wilkinson leaves an adopted daughter, Mrs. John F. Buehler, who has been a real daughter to them. Mrs. John Ofstad, a former resident of Hawarden, and the late Mrs. Wallace Howie of Chatsworth were sisters of Mrs. Buehler. Mrs. Wilkinson was a great church worker and for years she served as a Sunday school teacher in the Methodist church at Odebolt and -was a member of various other church organization and at the time of her death was president of the Foreign Missionary Society. For the past 23 years she was employed on the Odebolt Chronicle. She resigned this position last April after having been ill for two months and she knew that she -would not be able to resume her work.

She is survived by her husband and her adopted daughter, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Ady, of Flandreau, S. D.
