TOPFEENSTRA, DESMIT

John was the son of Egbert and Gertrude (Feenstra) Top at Beresford, S.D. At the age of one year, his family moved to Orange City. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On October 15, 1952, he married Albertha De Smit at Orange City. The first six years of their marriage they lived in California, where he was employed by an aircraft company. They then returned to Sioux County, where they farmed. He retired about 1975, because of failing health. In Feb. of this year, he became a resident of Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, where he passed away on May 30, 1995.

He was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, Judy and her husband, Henry Lee Blankespoor of Inwood; Betty and her husband, Marvin Int'veld of Orange City; Robert and his wife, Marilyn of Sheldon; Gloria and her husband Dan Beekhuizen, of Littleton, CO; Leon and his wife Judi of Orange City; Arlin and his wife Lora of Manson; and Keith of Orange City; fifteen grandchildren, Brian, Jeffrey and Tami Blankespoor; Rachel, Melissa, Rebecca and Ashley Int'Veld; Kristin, Eric, Luke and Nicholas Top; Nathan and Stephanie Beekhuizen; and Casey and Destiny Top; and two sisters, MRs. Stanley (Katherine) Bales, of Denver, CO; and MRs. Bill (ELizabeth) Smit of Sheldon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Lambert and a sister, Tracy.

Services are Fri. June 2, 1995 at 2:30 p.m. at First Regular Baptist Church in Sioux Center.

Clergyman: Rev. Eldor Wilkens

Interment: West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, IA.
