Born: April 1876
Died: August 17, 1932

Roy E. Woodside, a former well known Hawarden resident, died last Thursday morning at Victorville, California, from heart failure according to word received this week by old Hawarden friends, from his daughter in Beverly Hills, California. Mr. and Mrs. Woodside were on their way to Los Angeles from Minneapolis where they made their home for the past year when he was taken ill. Death came quietly as he slept, according to the word received here. Mr. and Mrs. Woodside spent a few days visiting with Hawarden friends two or three weeks ago just prior to leaving for California. The remains were cremated last Friday.

Roy Woodside grew to young manhood in Hawarden where he lived with his mother and brother, James Woodside, both of whom preceded him in death. His mother conducted a millinery store here for a considerable number of years. Early in life he displayed considerable ability along musical lines and was a prominent member of Hawarden band organizations in his youth, subsequently he took up the study of piano tuning and pipe organ work in the east and followed this profession during the balance of his life. He lived in Minneapolis for many years but about thirteen years ago moved to California. Last fall, with his wife, Mrs. Nora (Dudley) Woodside; he returned to Minneapolis where they made their home the past year but was returning to Los Angeles to live when death overtook him. He visited in Hawarden two or three times during the past year.

Mr. Woodside still retained many warm friends in this community who were greatly shocked at news of his death. He was a man of generous impulses and sterling integrity and enjoyed the friendship and esteem of all who knew him. He was regarded as an expert in his profession and enjoyed a wide clientele.

Besides his widow, Nora, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jean Ramey of Beverly Hills, California.
