Henry John Van Veldhuizen, the son of Jon and Effie (Vander Vliet) Van Veldhuizen, was born at Carmel, Iowa on Dec. 23, 1911. He lived his youth in the Carmel area and received his education at Carmel and Sioux Center.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Martha Punt at Maurice, IA on Sept. 12, 1944. Following their marriage they lived in the communities of Sioux Center, Ireton, Hull, Rock Valley and then they moved to Sanborn. While residing in Rock Valley and Sanborn, Henry was associated with the creamery industry. He retired in 1976. He died at Northwest Iowa Health Center at Sheldon on Feb. 14, 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Sanborn; his children; Roger and Vikki of Northfield, MN, Irwin of Sanborn, Marvin and Sheila of Grand Island, Nebraska, Duane and Ronda of Sanborn, Janice and Les Storm of Sanborn; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Henry was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sanborn and the Men's Brotherhood. He will be remembered by his family and friends for the enjoyment he received from being outdoors and his hobby of gardening.
