Rochus Wm. Schelling Sr. was born Dec. 4, 1938 to B.D. and Marie (Ymker) Schelling at Maurice, IA. He moved to the Armour area with his parents in the 1950's. He married Marian Barrett at Denver, CO. June 30, 1961. They farmed in the Harrison area from 1962-1964 and the Armour area from 1964-1981 when they moved to Sioux Falls. He was a member and served on the Consistory of the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Falls, S.D.

He is survived by his wife, Marian, Sioux Falls; 5 daughters and 3 sons; Mrs. Rokus (Elizabeth) Vande Minkelis, Corsica, S.D.; Linda Schelling, Rock Valley, IA; Kent Schelling, Inwood, IA; Brenda Schelling, Lynden WA.; Mrs. Daryl (Kathryn) Rozeboom, Viborg, S.D. James Schelling, Rochus (Bill) Schelling Jr. and Rochelle Schelling all at home; 2 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 4 grandchildren, 3 brothers; John A. Schelling, Sioux Center, IA; Cornelius Schelling, Armour, S.D. Lambert Schelling, Lake Andes, S.D.; 4 sisters; Mrs. Harold (Hattie) Hubers, Armour, S.D. Mrs. Frank (Betty) Powell, Armour, S.D. Mrs. Clarence (Marlene) Zomer, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Mrs. Ivan (Minnie Jean) Van Der Werff, Armour, S. D. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Sally Schelling.

Services: The Netherlands Reformed Church in Corsica, S.D. April 18, 1989.
