Death: May 21, 2001Steve Kiel, 85, Sheldon, died May 21, 2001 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn. Funeral service was Thursday, May 24 at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, with Reverend John Vermeer officiating. Interment was in East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon. Sheldon Funeral Service, Sheldon was in charge of arrangements.
Steve Kiel, was born June 17, 1915, the son of John and Marie (Huisman) Kiel in Orange City. He lived his youth in the Maurice, area, where he attended a country school. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Hulstein on September 3, 1940 in Sioux Center. They lived in Orange City for four years and then in Sioux Center for 20 years, where they farmed. They moved to Artesia, California, where he operated Steve's Repair Shop. After retiring they moved to Sheldon.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta; three daughters, Ruth Elaine Kiel, Sheldon, Donna Vanden Berg of Cerritos, Calififornia, and Marianne Lautenback of Seattle, Washington; one daughter-in-law, Sheryl Kiel of Chino, California; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Clarence Kiel of Orange City, Bill Kiel of Hartley, Vern Kiel of Sheldon, Raymond Kiel of Placentia, California, and Howard Kiel of Sioux Center; four sisters, Evelyn Kroeze of Orange City, Mary Addink of Orange City, Hilda Addink, and Hermina Hulstein, Hull.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Sylvan; one sister, Catherine Wassink.
