Anna Pennings, 69, of Orange City died Monday, Sept. 30, 1985, in a nursing home in Hull. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First Reformed Church in Orange City. Rev. Cecil Martens and Rev. Frank Snuttjer officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.
Mrs. Pennings, the former Anna DeWeerd, was born Dec. 18, 1915, at Sioux Center. She married John Pennings Feb. 11,1945, at Orange City. He died April 23, 1963. She lived most of her life in Orange City and entered Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull in 1970. Mrs. Pennings was a member of First Reformed Church and the Woman's Guild. She was one of the founding members of the Association for Retarded Citizens.
Survivors include a son, Arnold of Sheldon; two daughters, Mrs. Shyama (Audrey) Tandon of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Mrs. Philip (Beverly) Vermeer of Des Moines; four brothers, William of Hudson, SD, Albert of Woodstock, MN, Ray of Artesia, NM, and Howard of Edgerton, MN; three sisters, Mrs. Rowena Van Wyhe of Watertown, WI, Mrs. Alice Van Wyhe of Rock Rapids and Mrs. Jake (Winnie) Van't Hul of Hull, and three grandsons.
