Adrain “Abe” Kool, 62, of Hawarden died Friday, August 18, 1995, at a Sioux City Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Reverend Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Visitation was in the afternoon on Sunday, with a 7 P.M. Prayer Service, at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Kool was born May 5, 1933, in Sioux County, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Dreka (Vande Hoef) Kool. He graduated from Hawarden High School and attended South Dakota State University at Brookings, South Dakota, for two years before entering the military. He served two years with the United States Marine Corps. He married Helen Steinfadt February 7, 1958, in Brookings. The couple lived in Hawarden, where he managed several area grocery stores during the past 30 years.

Mr. Kool was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, including being a church elder.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; three sons and their wives, Steve and Ila of Brookings, Terry and Lisa of Sergeant Bluff, and Jeff and Julie of Akron; a brother and his wife, Marvin and Pat of Huron; two sisters, Rena and her husband Fred Holtrop of Ireton and Johanna Kool of Hawarden and eight grandchildren.
