Died: February 27, 2005Maxine Kratochvil, 86, died February 27, 2005 in Alcester. Funeral service was March 2 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester. Wass Funeral Home in Alcester was in charge of arrangements.
Maxine Eva Anderson Kratochvil was born July 21, 1918 in Hawarden, the daughter of Rueben and Myrtle (Aldrich) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Alcester. She was raised and educated in Alcester, graduating from Alcester High School before attending the Cosmetology in Sioux City. She worked as a beautician in the area before marrying Charles Kratochvil on January 2, 1942. The couple farmed near Alcester.
Maxine served as a 4-H leader for many years. Mr. Kratochvil died in 1977. After leaving the family farm in 1978, she built a home in Alcester where she lived until moving to Trail Ridge in Sioux Falls in 1995. She spent the last three years at Morningside Manor in Alcester.
Survivors include one son, Gary Kratochvil of Sioux Falls; one daughter, JoAnn Kratz of Maple Grove, Minnesota; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one sister, Audrey Gaul of Hawarden; three sisters-in-law, Mary Reppe, Mae Kratochvil and Irene Gosch; and two brothers-in-law, Don Kratochvil and Mac Kratochvil.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one infant sister.
