Died: March 31, 1983Mrs. Hilda Knapper, 69, of Currie, Minnesota, died of a lingering illness on Thursday, March 31 at the Murray County Memorial Hospital, Slayton, Minnesota. She was formerly Hilda Kuiper of Alton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5 at Christ Lutheran Church of Slayton, Minnesota. The Reverend Alice Horton officiated. Burial was in Restland Memory Gardens, Slayton, Minnesota.
Mrs. Knapper was born March 11, 1914 at Alton to John and Helen Van Laar Kuiper. She grew up at Alton and attended school there. She worked for five years as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sioux City. On February 3, 1951 she was married to Aldon Knapper at Alton. They farmed near Slayton, Minnesota, and later moved to Currie, Minnesota, where she lived since. Her husband died August 7, 1972.
Hilda worked at the Slayton Sewing Center and later at the Murray County D.A.C. in Currie. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Slayton and taught Sunday School and Release Class.
Survivors include three children, Richard of Tracy, Minnesota, Martha Giefer of Slayton, Minnesota, and Charles of Modesto, California, one sister, Bernice Huisman, Orange City, and two brothers, Bernard Kuiper of Omaha, Nebraska and Henry Kuiper of Paullina. She has five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
