Death: November 21, 1987Mr. Dale E. Karssen, 32, of Alton, passed away suddenly Saturday, November 21, at his residence, of an apparent cerebral hemorrhage.
Dale Edwin was born April 19, 1955 at Orange City, the son of Edwin Karssen and Catherine Roghair Karssen. He graduated from Floyd Valley High School in Alton in 1973 and from Northwestern College in Orange City in 1977.
On July 28, 1973, he married Rita Gay Hofmeyer at Newkirk. They made their home in Alton, where Dale was employed with his father at Ed's Shoe and Clothing Store. He was also a relief rural mail carrier for the Orange City Post Office.
Dale was a member of the Reformed Church of Alton, where he had served as education secretary. He was also a member and past president of the Alton Community Club.
In addition to his wife and parents of Alton he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer, 13; son, Timothy, 7; grandmothers, Emma Karssen of Alton and Dora Roghair of Orange City; brother Gary of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Mrs. Gary (Nora) Saxen of Merrill.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 24 at the Reformed Church of Alton with the Reverend Ray Tilstra officiating. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
