Requiem mass for Patrick H. McManaman, 81, who died Friday at St. Vincent's in Sioux City following five months' hospitalization, was offered by Rev. Fr. L. Friedman at St. Mary's Catholic at 9:30 Monday morning. Interment was at St. Mary's cemetery.
The rosary was recited at 8 o'clock Sunday evening at the Barnard-Dow Funeral home. A large number of Fourth Degree Knights from Sioux City and of the local council formed a guard and recited the rosy at 8:30.
At the funeral an honor guard Knights of Columbus formed an arch and attended services in a body. Casket bearers were Vinton Kane, Leo Schiefen, James McCarthy, Clarence Gamble, Clifford Burke and Tony Bockelman.
The requiem mass was sung by a girls choir with Mrs. Vincent Johnson at the organ.
Mr. McManaman was born December 26, 1883, in Plymouth county where he spent his childhood. From 1908 until 1930 he lived in Charles Mix county, S.D., where he was well-known as a pitcher and infielder in baseball in the Tyndall, Wagner and Lake Andes areas.
Mr. McManaman was a member of St. Mary's parish in Hawarden, a charger member of Fr. De Smet's Knights of Columbus council, transferring to the Hawarden council when it organized, and belonged to Garrigan Assembly of Fourth Degree Knights of Sioux City.
He is survived by two brothers, Michael and Jack McManaman, both of Hawarden, and two sisters, Mary McManaman of Hawarden and Mrs. Lawrence Gale of Akron.
A large number of relatives and friends from out of town attended.
