Raymond Kempema, 68, of Rock Valley, died Thursday, November 16, 1989, at his home following an apparent heart attack.

Services were held at 2 P.M. Saturday, November 18, at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Reverend C. Eric Fennema officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley. Visitation was held at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Kempema was born August 21, 1921 at Rock Valley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45 during World War II. He married Sylvia Harthoorn February 21, 1947 at Doon. He was self employed in the trucking business for 40 years. He drove school bus for the Area IV School since 1983.

He was a member of the Rock Valley VFW and the First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; two sons and their wives, Charles and Joan of Middleville, Michigan, and Marvin and Donna of Doon; three daughters, Mrs. Dan (Kathy) Van Voorst of Inwood, Iowa, Susan Kempema of Rockford, Michigan, and Mrs. Glenn (Carolyn) Seeley of Minneapolis; his father, Charles of Rock Valley; a brother, John A. Kempema of Rock Valley; three sisters, Mrs. John (Gert) Blankespoor of Rock Valley, Mrs. Joe (Hermie) Hall of Miami, Florida, and Mrs. Art (Margaret) Van Otterloo of Hull, 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
