Charles H. Klein, 62, of Alton, died Wednesday, March 28 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services were held Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville with the Reverend Robert W. Gralapp officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Mr. Klein was born August 15, 1927 at rural Granville, the son of Peter and Catherine (Hodapp) Klein. He was raised and educated in the Granville area. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-53, and was stationed in Wisconsin and Japan during the Korean conflict.

He married Amy Cooper January 17, 1957 at Sioux City. The couple then farmed near Granville until retiring in October 1989. They moved into Alton January 2 of this year.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Alton and the Catholic Order of Foresters of Granville.

Survivors include his wife, Amy; four sons, Stephen of Victoria, Texas, Thomas of Pasadena, California, Dale of Dallas, Texas, and Gary who is attending the University of South Dakota at Vermillion; three grandchildren; a brother, Hilary of Granville; and a sister, Mrs. Leo (Rosemary) Braun of Granville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Peter, Joseph and John, all at birth
