Funeral services for William B. Klein, 89, of Hospers, were held Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Hospers. Pastor Thomas Hart officiated. Burial was at the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Henry Goebel, Daryl Klein, Mark Klein, Ronald Klein, Robert Klein and Glen Vortherms. Mr. Klein died November 26 at a retirement home in Remsen.

William Klein, the son of William and Elizabeth Metzen Klein, was born October 30, 1896 at Mendota, Illinois. When he was still a child the family moved to the Hospers area where he was raised and educated. He was married to Clara Hoffmann January 24, 1923 at Hospers. The couple farmed near Hospers until 1959 when they retired and moved to town. Mrs. Klein died August 10, 1962. Mr. Klein had been a resident of the Happy Siesta Retirement Home at Remsen since July of 1983. He was WWI army veteran and was an agent for the Remsen Mutual Insurance Company for many years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the American Legion of Hospers, the Knights of Columbus and the DAV.
