Gertie Schelling, 93,of Sioux Center, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 1995 in Sioux Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Rev. John Den Hoed officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center.

Gertie was born Nov. 7, 1901 in the Netherlands, the daughter of Dick and Aartje (Langerway) Bleyenberg. She attended country school near Sioux Center and married Lane Schelling on Jan. 19, 1926 in Sioux Center.

They lived their married life farming near Sioux Center and Ireton. Mr. Schelling died in 1984.

She had been a resident of the Sioux Center Community Health Center since 1987.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Henrietta and Emil Jacobs of Ireton; four sons and their wives, Dick and Theodora of Sioux Center, Cornie and Shirley of Hawarden, Arnie and Bev of Sioux Center, and Robert and Margaret of Orange City; a brother, Gerrit and his wife Gert Bleyenberg of Sioux Center; a sister, Bess Harskamp and her husband Jake of Sioux Center; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, three sisters, a grandson and a great-great-granddaughter.
