Rock Valley, Iowa: Frieda Wagner, 87, of Rock Valley, died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Whispering Heights at Rock Valley. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rock Valley with Rev. Jim Locke officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Doon. Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.
Frieda Marcella (Brower) Wagner, daughter of John and Dora (Vander Schaaf) Brower, was born May 22, 1927 at Doon, Iowa. Frieda graduated from the Doon High School in 1945. Frieda married Case Wagner and to this union two children were born. Together they farmed north of Hull, then near Rock Rapids before moving to Rock Valley in December 1953. In 1965, Frieda began working at Hegg Memorial Hospital doing laundry for 18 years. She was a part of the Foster Grandparent program and a lifetime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Frieda enjoyed trips out west, reading, and embroidering in her spare time. She also had a fondness for small animals, especially little puppies. Her favorite color was blue.
Frieda is survived by her children, June (Bernard) Groeneweg of Rock Valley and their children Bruce (Lisa) Groeneweg of Rock Valley, Dawn (Nick) Fickbohm of Alcester, SD, and Jackie (Tim) Holz of Sheldon, IA; Ermil Wagner of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and his children, Alexandre Wagner of Brooklyn, NY and Rachel Wagner of Lake Bluff, IL; 6 great-grandchildren, Levi Groeneweg, Luke Groeneweg, Samantha Holz, Sydney Holz, Adam Fickbohm, and Allison Fickbohm; brother, Vernon Brower of Luverne, MN; and sister, Dorothy Trott of Storm Lake, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy Vissia; brother, Dave Brower and his Phyllis and sister-in-law, Wilma Brower.
