Tribute & Message From The Family

Marvin Vink, age 79, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Rev. Luke Wynja officiating.

Graveside Services will be Saturday at 9:30 A.M. at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. Military Honors by the American Legion, Sheldon, Iowa.

Visitation will be Friday, February 20, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Marvin Dale Vink was born on July 20, 1935 in Orange City, Iowa. He was the son of John and Edith (Scheeringa) Vink. He lived his youth in Sheldon, Iowa where he attended Sheldon Christian Grade School and Sheldon Public High School. Marv served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 and was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Van Surksum of Hospers, Iowa on April 17, 1959 in Hospers. They lived in Sheldon where Marv was a salesman at Verschoor Motors and later worked for Super America before he owned and operated Vink's Furniture for 35 years.
He was a life-long member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon where he had served as a Deacon.
Marv and Wilma enjoyed traveling to Florida, Alaska, Hawaii, California, the Black Hills and spending summers at Vacation Village with the family when they were younger. Marv liked remodeling homes, having coffee, going out to have breakfast with friends and visiting with people. He especially loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a special bond with his grandson, Kyle. Marv will be remembered as a soft hearted and giving person.
He passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon with his family by his side. He was at peace and ready to meet his Savior.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 55 years: Wilma Vink of Sheldon, IA; four daughters and sons-in-law: Starla and Gary Krikke of Sanborn, IA and their children, Joshua (Glenda) Krikke and children, Cambrie, Madison and Lexi, Nathan (Sara) Krikke and son Paxton, Amber Krikke; Twyla and Curtis Van Schepen of Doon, IA and their sons, Daniel (Shay) Van Schepen and children, Parker, Morgan, and Kaden, David (Jami) Van Schepen and children, Monika and Milanya, Cory Van Schepen, Cole Van Schepen, Trey Van Schepen; Lisa and Clark Groeneweg of Orange City, IA and their children, Erica (Brandon) Huisman and daughter, Adalee, Alissa (Grant) Sather and son, Henry, Joel Groeneweg; Jonna and Dustin Schnurr of Grain Valley, MO and their children, Kyle Schnurr, Alex Schnurr and Keaton Schnurr; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Vivian Strayer of Sanborn, IA, Marie Veen of Clarion, IA, Bill and Marge Van Surksum of Sheldon, IA, Dr. Richard Venema of Helena, MT, Ella and Mart Horjus of Grandville, MI and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: infant Nelson Vink, Dick and Betty Vink, Herman Vink, Nelson and Betty Vink, and Stanley Vink; sister: Jean and Glen Jasper; grandson: Matthew Dale Schnurr; and nephew: Jay Vink.
