Tribute & Message From The Family

Harold Edward Scholten, age 62, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon.

Memorial Services will be Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. David Van Kley officiating.

Graveside Services will be Friday at 9:30 A.M. at Hope Cemetery in Hull, Iowa.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 19, from 2: 00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Memorials will be given to Cobble Creek Assisted Living in Sheldon.

Harold Edward Scholten was born on June 13, 1952 in Orange City, Iowa. He was the son of Elroy and Beverly Jean (Edwards) Scholten. He lived his youth in Alton, Iowa and attended Floyd Valley School, graduating in 1970.
He was united in marriage to Doris Kraayenbrink of Hull, Iowa on September 1, 1984, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. They lived in Hospers, Iowa and moved to Sheldon, Iowa in 1986. Harold worked at the Alton Rendering Plant, Banner Beef/ Packerland, Tanks LTD, Oldenkamp Manufacturing, Conveyor Company, and Natural Beauty.
He was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Harold was a quiet, reserved person, who enjoyed riding motorcycle, taking care of his lawn, playing guitar, music, tinkering in the garage and playing with his cats, especially, Eddie.
Harold had a heart attack in 2011 and in June of 2012 became a resident at the Bee Hive, now known as Cobble Creek Assisted Living of Sheldon.
He passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon.
He was an organ and tissue donor in his death and many people will benefit from his generous donation.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 30 years, Doris Scholten of Sheldon, IA; his brother, Bill and wife Beverly Scholten of Hospers, IA; mother-in-law, Wilhelmina Kraayenbrink of Hull, IA; sister-in-law, Hillene and husband John Unangst of Colleyville, TX; niece, Julie and husband Ralph D'Allessandro of Pitman, NJ and great-nephew, Nico D'Allessandro.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Asa Kraayenbrink.
