Prior to entering the old Hawarden hospital, Mr. Morgan was a patient at the University hospital at Iowa City. For the past year and a half he had ben cared for at the Hawarden hospitals, first at the old hospital and then when the municipal hospital was opened last October he was removed there where he was cared for continually until he passed away last Friday morning.

Funeral services were held at the Ross Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. J. G. Waterman of the Methodist church in charge. Burial was made in the Ireton cemetery. The Odd Fellows lodge of Hawarden had charge of the services at the grave.

Frank Elmer Morgan was born in Benton County, Iowa, March 10, 1863, and departed this life July 16, 1937, having attained the age of 74 years, 4 months and 6 days. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of his Benton County home and in 1882 came to this part of the state, taking up his residence in Ireton in 1886. With the exception of four years in South Dakota he has resided in Hawarden and Ireton since that time. He was united in marriage with Miss Alpha Amanda Garrett at LeMars Aug. 18, 1887. Three children were born to this union, all of whom survive. His wife preceded him in death by eight years.

Mr. Morgan was an employee of the North Western Railway company and completed a service of nearly 30 years. For many years he was an esteemed member of the Methodist church and was an honored member of long standing in the Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges. More than a year and a half ago his health failed and he became afflicted with a lingering illness. Through the long trying months he bore his suffering with courage and patience and last Friday morning the spirit took its flight.
