Mrs. Susan B. Morgan, a pioneer resident of Washington township, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William M. Ward, in Sioux City last Friday evening following a long illness. The remains were brought to Ireton where funeral services were held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church, Rev. Wm. P. Webb, the pastor, conducting the services. Interment was made in the Ireton Cemetery.

Susan Byam Morgan was born near Rome, N.Y. in the year 1840, so was in her 86th year. When three years of age she moved with her parents to Wisconsin where she grew to young womanhood. In 1866 she was united in marriage with William A. Morgan in Benton County, Iowa. In 1883 they moved onto a farm in Washington township, six miles east of Hawarden, where they lived for many years. Upon retiring from the farm they moved to Ireton where they resided until eleven years ago when Mr. Morgan died. Since that time she has made her home with her children, most of the time with her daughter, Mrs. Ward, in Sioux City.

Besides her daughter, Mrs. Ward, is survived by three sons, Alf Morgan of Hawarden, Hubert Morgan of Salem, Ore., and Harry B. Morgan of Sioux Falls, SD. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. A. J. Weeden of Tracy, Minn, and several grandchildren.
