Hawarden Independent, December 5, 1935

Mrs. Rosena Morgan, a pioneer resident of Lyon County, died at her home in Rock Rapids, Monday as the result of an injury last fall, when she fractured her left hip in a fall. Mrs. Morgan, who had reached the age of 81 years, had found it necessary to get around with the aid of crutches for the last twenty years because of suffering a fracture in her right hip at that time. Last October as she reached for her crutches she fell from her bed and fractured her left hip. She was removed to a hospital in Sibley where she remained for a month and she then returned home but the fracture was never set due to her advanced age. She suffered great pain almost continually since her last injury.

Mrs. Morgan was born at Darlington, Wis., where she grew to young womanhood and was married. She came to Lyon county many years ago and lived in Rock Rapids many years. She is survived by eight children: D. M. and Matt Morgan of Hawarden; Mrs. J. A. Slaughter, San Francisco, CA; Mrs. Florence McCaffery, David City, NE; Miss Margaret Morgan, Salt Lake City, Utah; W. H. Morgan, Britton, SD and Miss Minnie and Clarence at home.

Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock this morning, at the Catholic church at Rock Rapids, and burial was made in the Catholic cemetery.
