Death of Pioneer Resident

T. J. Knowlton, one of the pioneer residents of Sioux County, died at his home at Canton, South Dakota, April 18, 1919. Funeral services were held Easter Sunday. The deceased was born in Fayette County, MO, in 1843. In 1865 he married Mary J. Edwards at Montfort, Wisconsin. In 1871 they moved to Sioux County and resided here until 1895 when they moved to Canton, S.D. His wife preceded him in death 5 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Knowlton resided on a farm north of Ireton for many years and it was here that most of their children were born. He was a member of the board of supervisors of Sioux County several terms and was an efficient and capable official. He was the father of eight children, five of whom are still living.
