Harry Edward Ketchum was born at Newport News, VA. August 12, 1901, and died at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City March 8, 1922. He would have been 21 had he lived until August this year. He came to Ireton when he was but 6 years old and has made his home with his aunt, Mrs. Belle Donnell, since that time. He was educated in the public school at Ireton and in 1919 graduated with honor from the high school class of six boys and six girls. He then took a course of study in the La Salle Extension University of Chicago and received his diploma fitting himself for traffic management in the railroad business. He was for two and one-half years assistant to Mr. Stafford in the local depot. There he formed many friendships because of his courtesy and polite dealing with people. His mother, Mrs. Nellie May Ketchum of Ireton, five aunts, Mrs. Belle Donnell of Ireton, Miss Pearl Foulk of Elkhorn, NE, Ida J. Ketchum, Mrs. Letta Taylor and Mrs. Pearl Allen of Newport News VA and five uncles, N. F. Ketchum and A. S. Ketchum of Newport News VA, T. A. Foulk and Welcome Foulk of Luverne, MN and F. D. Foulk of Fort Reno, OK. survive him.

Edward will no more go in and out among us with his pleasant manner and kindly speech but he will be held in loving remembrance, not only by mother and aunt, but by a large circle of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church last Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Otto L. Carr. His body was placed in its last resting place in the Ireton Cemetery.
