Although she had been a long sufferer, and her death not unexpected, the passing away of Mrs. Bernard J. Hyink last Monday brought a pall of sadness over the entire community. Practially all of her sweet young life had been spent in Hawarden, and called as she was, at a time when life should have been at its best and happiest, caused universal expressions of sadness and sympathy.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o'clock Wed. afternoon. The services were simple and brief in compliance with the wishes of the deceased. Miss Lila Herter sang a beautiful solo, and Rev. A. M. McIntosh, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, delivered a short funeral sermon. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Inez V. Lynn, was born in Hawarden Oct. 22, 1889. Her happy childhood days were spent here. She passed through all of the grades of the public schools and graduated from the high school with the members of the class with whom she had long been associated. Following her graduation she accompanied her parents to Tacoma, WA. where she remained for a little more than a year. On Sept. 2, 1909, she was united in marriage to Bernard J. Hyink, and after a happy wedding trip returned to Hawarden to again make her home. Some five years ago her health began to fail, and though every care and comfort was given that it was possible to give, she gradually failed until the final summons came.

Besides her husband she leaves a little son, Bernard Lynn Hyink, to mourn her death. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Lynn of Tacoma, WA., one brother, Lawrence Lynn, and one sister, Miss Gladys Lynn. Her mother was with her in her final illness.

A large number of relatives and friends from out of town came to attend the funeral and in respect to the deceased and in sympathy with the bereaved ones, the business houses of the city were closed during the funeral hour.
