Hawarden Independent, November 7, 1918

Harry J. Morey, youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. J. Morey of this city, died last Friday morning from influenza. He was taken sick Thursday, Oct. 24th and the following Wednesday pneumonia set in, and on Friday morning the grim reaper called him to his eternal reward. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery, Saturday afternoon and brief funeral services were conducted at the grave by Rev. C. W. Hendy, pastor of the Baptist Church. The deceased was born in Washington Township, Sioux County, June 12, 1893. He went with the Sioux County drafted men to Camp Dodge last March, but was only in the camp a few weeks when he received an honorable discharge owing to physical disability. Besides his aged parents, he leaves to mourn his departure, one brother, C. A. Morey of Ireton, and three sisters, Mrs. J. A. Eddy of Worthington, MN; Mrs. Thos. Hatton of Ireton, and Miss Grace Morey of Hawarden, besides other relatives and many friends.
