Dick Van Klompenburg, 93, of Orange City died Saturday, January 21, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Funeral service was Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. David Ter Beest officiating. Interment was at West Lawn cemetery in Orange City.

Van Klompenburg was born December 3, 1912, in rural Orange City, the son of Jan "John" and Dirkje (Mulder) Van Klompenburg. He was raised in rural Orange City, where he attended country school. On June 29, 1937, he married Roevina Cleveringa at Orange City. They farmed south of Alton, where he enjoyed farming, and they raised their family.

In August of 1980, they retired into Orange City. His wife died April 9, 2004, in Orange City, after more than 66 years of marriage. He continued to live in his own home.

He was a longtime member of First Reformed Church, which he faithfully attended. In recent years, he worshipped through the radio and television ministry of the church.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Delmar and Clarine Van Klompenburg of Maurice, Rosalyn and Ronald Wenstrand of Wakefield, Nebraska, Harvey and Cheryl Van Klompenburg of Orange City and Richard and Rhonda Van Klompenburg of Alton; two sons-in-law, Henry Pennings of Sheldon and Dennis Cordle of Iowa City; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters-inlaw, Cora and Johanna Van Klompenburg, both of Orange City; and many nephews and nieces.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Marlene Pennings and Delores Cordle; a grandson; a great-grandson; and seven brothers and two sisters, John, Ike, Jacob (infant), Jacob, Grace Vellinga, Gerrit, Rena, Henry and William.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice.
