John B. Vanden Berg, 66, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Valley Manor, Rock Valley.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation, Rock Valley. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Reverend G.M. de Leeuw will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday with the family present from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.

John Bernard Vanden Berg was born March 8, 1939 to Ben and Coba (Kooima) Vanden Berg near Rock Valley. He attended country school.

John was united in marriage to Judina Van Tilburg on February 17, 1960 in Rock Valley. He farmed near Rock Valley all his life and hauled hay for several years.

John was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation serving as Deacon for 26 years.

John is survived by his wife, Judina; son, Brad (Mary) Vanden Berg of Armour, South Dakota; daughter, Jolene (James) Vander Veer of Newton, Iowa; father, Ben Vanden Berg of Rock Valley; daughter-in-law, Deloris Vanden Berg of Sioux Center, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Addy) Vanden Berg of Lynden, Washington; sister, Eldora Leuge of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brothers-in-law: Floris (Dori) Van Tilburg, Tom (Marge) Van Tilburg all of Rock Valley, Emery (Edith) Van Tilburg of George, Iowa and Marv (Coba) Van Tilburg of Rock Valley.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Coba; son, Cliff Vanden Berg.
