Phyllis Ladwig, the daughter of William and Gertrude (Tensen) Verburg, was born Jan. 27, 1943, in Hudson, S.D. She moved with her family as a small child to the Acher, Iowa area. She attended schools in Archer. Phyllis had made her home in the recent years both in Orange City and later in Rock Valley, Iowa. She passed away on Sat. Marcn 30, 2002, in Rock Valley, reaching the age of 59 years, 2 months and 3 days.

She enjoyed doing handwork, especially embroidering.

Phyllis is survived by her parents, William and Gertrude Verburg of Primghar; three brothers, Keith and his wife Barbara Verburg of Hospers, Iowa, Arvin and his wife Karen Verburg of Mankato, MN, and Gary Verburg of St. Paul, MN.; one sister, Beverly Verburg Carr of Newalla, Oklahoma; also nine nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
