Sioux Center News, October 13, 1938

Neal A. Moss, well known resident of the Carmel community, passed away in the Hull hospital Wednesday morning, Oct. 12, after a week of illness. He first became ill on Monday, Oct (date missing), when a bad chill after fixing the well on his farm brought him to bed. Pneumonia developed and Friday his condition became very serious and he was taken to the hospital. An acute kidney trouble complicated his condition and he sank steadily. The funeral at the home at 12:15, and in the Carmel Church at 1:30.

Neal A. Moss for many years has lived in Carmel just west of the general store. He had a feed grinding business, and did trucking and threshing also. Last spring he moved to the Moss Estate farm 2 miles south and 2 miles west of Carmel and farmed in addition to his other work. He was widely known as a faithful and trustworthy businessman. During all the years he has been active in church work, serving as Superintendent of the Sunday school, and as an elder on the church board.

Left to mourn his departure are his wife, the former Tillie Vander Vliet, and their four sons: Albert, Henry, Art and Elmer, also his brothers and sisters: Marion of Hull, John of Sioux Center; Mrs. Martin Jager of Middleburg; Edward, a student in Orange City, and Mrs. Simon De Jong of Sioux Center, also his step mother, Mrs. Albert Moss of Rock Valley.
