Died: February 10, 1984 Inwood, Iowa

Alice Tilstra, 78, of Inwood, died unexpectedly Sun. Feb. 10, at her home in Inwood.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wed. Feb. 13, in the First Reformed Church in Inwood. The Rev. Don White officiated. Burial was in Richland Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tilstra, the former Alice Ter Wee, was born April 18, 1906 at Kampen, the Netherlands. She came to the U.S. in 1910 and attended rural school near Inwood. She married Walter Tilstra Nov. 8, 1928 in Fairview, S.D. They farmed in the Inwood area until retiring and moving into town. He died Sept. 1, 1977.

Mrs. Tilstra was a member of the First Reformed Church and Martha Circle of the church.

Survivors include six sons, Gerrit of Canton, S.D. John and Elmer, both of Denver, CO. Kenneth of Bridger, MT. Rodney of Sioux Center and Merle of Inwood; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Henrietta) Pennings of Orange City and Mrs. Lloyd (Marcine) Kempema of Kersey, CO; two brothers, Henry of Rock Valley and Marinus of Canton; a sister, Mrs. Merle (Hilda) Sumers of Lincoln, NE; 28 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
